H.G.Paulose Mar Pachomios OIC was born as the second child of Mr.K.K.John and Mrs.Mariamma John on 26 January 1946 in Kolathukalathil, Neysseril, Kurichy. His family has the great tradition of holy fathers like saint Geevarghese Mar Dionysius of Vattasseril and H.H Mar Baselius Geevarghese II. He developed a spiritual and disciplined life from his childhood, and inherited the rich spiritual experience and tradition of the church and forefathers. H.G joined Bethany Ashram in 1968. He Studied B.D from Bishops College, Calcutta and later he went to England for higher studies from Leeds University in 1980.He was ordained as Deacon by H.G.Mathews Mar Ivanios,Paret,and as priest by H.G Mathews mar Athanasius (H.H Mar baselius Mathews I). He was elected as the superior of Bethany Ashram in 1986, and served until he was elected Bishop. The Parumala Association held in 1992 elected him as Bishop. H.G was ordained as Bishop on 16 August 1993 H.H Mar Baselius Mathews II. He served as the Bishop of Idukki, Angamaly and Mavelikkara respectively.He entered into eternal life on 1 August 2012 and is entombed near his mentor.
Mar Pachomius had a vivacious and dynamic personality. He was one of the leading retreat fathers of the church. He showed the path and light to monastic communities. His services as a humanist and missionery are inestimable. Mar Pachomios was a Bishop who strongly kept the Orthodox traditions and values and advocated for a vigor and splendour for the church. He was always ready to extend his hands to the poor and browbeaten. In preference to his own life, he lived a church life, overwhelming full of inspiring words mightier than swords and redeeming deeds nobler than virtues. Mar Pachomios was a symbol of the rich Indian culture. He was an embodiment of goodness and spiritual values, had followed the life style of the Rishis of the yore. He aired the voice of the Church on various international forums in his capacity as a member of MOC.
